Nothing better than EC and ES 335.

As for the song -- really dislike this version. The turnaround and tempo really combine to wreck it for me. It's good parts from Lowell's and Elvis's, but I just don't like the result. This version with Elvis singing...that would probably work better for me. Of the covers, though, I'm in with Freddie King's.

The guitar debate is funny...think about how SRV made a strat sound, then go try to play one like he had his set up -- good luck! And really, too many people overemphasize the instrument and fail to realize how much of the tone is the guy plucking the strings...oh, and the amp behind him...if you want your "why did he" answers, go read his autobiography...

@DarkHorizonEOS Not sure what you mean about 23? Oh in his later years? Don't get it.

Steve Winwood turned him on to them during Blind Faith and lot's of blues players at the time were on Strats (Buddy Guy, Hendrix). Hendrix was the reason Clapton had a perm as well. I agree that those Humbuckers give his blues playing such a warmth but the Strat has given him some iconic tones. They're too different to compare I think.

@davidriggs1955 Not at all. I have been a musician for 45 years. I'm not some YouTube punk that will attack if you don't like my opinions !!!

@racer500gp I had to learn how to like a strat. For years, I preferred the gibson through a marshall, but I have found myself really appreciating the Robert Cray and Jimmy Vaughn tones. I hope you didn't take my comment as an attack. A lot of people get crazy with attacking other folks about their preferences.

@davidriggs1955 I meant for the Cream stuff, not his solo endeavors. I love Strats (I have three of them).
